Low cost, high quality, comfort food lunch in a department store?
I discovered Macy’s Taste Bar Cafe purely by chance. What a shock. Not only is the food healthy and delicious, it’s also reasonably priced – one of the best buys in town.
The service is also outstanding.
In these trying economic times, let’s give credit where credit is due.

We’re a professional food organization. We take great care about customer service. All of our team leaders have a food service background. Our products are as fresh as possible, offered at good price, and we deliver them with a smile. Everything we do is above board. I make certain that our employees properly wash their hands and use gloves when preparing food. We have food checks twice daily and only produce the amount we will serve that day. If the service is as good as you say, why do you recommend no tipping! I was there a week ago, and they were as sweet as a piece of pie! I left them a two dollar tip and I felt pretty cheap doing it too. I think if you are trying to advertise this Cafe you should at least remove the “No tipping!”
Right you are, Karen! Both the food and service at Macy’s Taste Bar service are excellent. The article should have said “Tipping is not required, but is certainly appreciated.” Thank you for pointing this out. I will remove the reference to avoid confusion. Hi there. Was at Chicago Macy’s (State Street) and had a Frango Hot Chocolate at the Frango Cafe. It was the best Hot Chocolate I have EVER had. Is there anyone who can tell me what is in it? I had the Mint one, and the Server had advised me that there was alcohol in it. I can’t imagine what kind would be in in for it to be sooooo smooth. Any assistance would be appreciated.
