Victor Hector Rodriguez, an institution builder, dedicated his life to the empowerment of Latinos in the United States by developing participatory organizations and leadership projects. He also ran for  the D.C. City Council three times – unsuccessful, but unbowed. An astute businessman, entrepreneur and person of immense heart, he’s written hundreds of poems for loved ones and friends over the years. We urge him to bring his words to the world at large.

You may hear your own inner voice through his art – and perhaps return home from a long journey.

I found his poem tucked between treasured papers, along with handwritten notes from my mom. When I reread it, I felt a positive arrow piercing my heart, one that carried the message: This poem can bring comfort in our challenging and troubled times.

on this voyage across time,
to strange and fascinating places
I would roam;
in search of life’s true meaning
so far away from home…”

Amazon announced that eBooks outsold conventional books on Christmas Day.

At recent consumer electronics shows, two dozen companies introduced new e-readers – including the SKIFF eReader with an 11.5 inch screen that bends like a sheet of paper and is twice the size of the Sony eReader or Kindle.

Submitting your book to a particular eReader can be a complicated process – daunting for experienced, let alone aspiring authors. Proprietary submission formats and requirements vary. What works for one will not typically work for the other. Precise technical skills are often required for content and cover design.

According to a recent report,  digitization has exposed critical skill gaps in the publishing industry. Random House CEO. and Chairman Dame Gail Rebuck—a Skillset board member—stated: “It is important that the industry understands and moves with the market so the skills gap this report has identified does not continue to grow.”

Let me understand the convoluted logic. In other words, it’s OK to attack Sarah Palin and her teenage daughter if it lifts ratings? Or because the intended target is 18 and not 14? Or because the comedian/low-life doesn’t care for Sarah Palin’s political views?

The rights of women took a giant step backward this week when JOKES about teenage girls being “knocked up” and about hard-working, wage-earning female flight attendants as sluts became acceptable.

We talk about empowering women, fighting toxic people, getting our lives back. And how does this vile gutter talk against women raise the bar? Republican, Democrat, Independent. We are ALL Sarah Palin.

If you don’t have the courage to stand up for Sarah Palin and her daughters – to fight the vilification of women – the least you can do is change the channel. Don’t give this gagster from the gutter a minute more of your time.
